CEO: Farid Golnaraghi, PhD, PEng, Professor and Director, School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, Burnaby Mountain Research Chair, SFU. Formerly Canada Research Chair in Mechatronic and Smart Material Systems at the University of Waterloo before joining SFU. Led a research team to conduct various pioneering studies. His expertise includes Dynamics and Vibration, Impact Dynamics, Mechatronics Design, Smart Materials, Intelligent Sensors and Diagnostics of Mechanical Systems and Machinery. He started three companies and has written a leading textbook in control engineering. He has supervised 124 HQPs (PDF, PhD, MASc, Research Associates, and Co-op Students) since 1988, and authored more than 100 Journal papers and 8 patents.
 
CTO : Daniel Abram,PhD, PEng, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering, SFU. He is a professional engineer (PEng) with expertise in design, testing, optimization, and product development. Daniel is an award winning researcher with over 25 publications including book chapter, patents, journals, and conferences. Daniel received his PhD in mechanical design and optimization from the University of New Brunswick in 2008. In the last sevenx years, he has played a key role in developing, testing, and manufacturing Shield-X membrane.

CSO, CFO: Gary Wang, PhD, PEng, Professor and Head of Product Design and Optimization Lab, Mechatronics Systems Engineering, SFU. Dr. Wang has expertise in Design, Optimization, and Advanced Manufacturing.  Dr. Wang has won university-level as well as national research awards.  He is currently a fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and serves as an associate editor for ASME Transactions, Journal of Mechanical Design, and an associate editor for the International Journal of Engineering Optimization, geographically representing North America.

Mr. Jelveh is a pioneering technologist, serial entrepreneur, angel investor and the founder of five high technology companies in the US and Canada. His areas of experience include over 34 years of active executive management, research, product development, systems design, integration and consulting for companies such as Atomic Energy Of Canada, Digital Sound, and Pacific Bell. Mr. Jelveh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Western Michigan University (1976), Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (1977) and DEA; Diplôme d'études Approfondies (L'École Supérieure d'Électricité ) SUPELEC Paris, France (1980). He is an accredited Professional Engineer in Ontario and British Columbia.

Director: Roland Wolfram, BSEE, MBA, Roland has had a wide-ranging career at Nike, Pacific Telesis, and McKinsey and Company. During Roland’s 17 year career at Nike, he held a variety of global functional roles and multi-billion dollar geographic roles, including Global Operations and Technology, Global Sales, Asia Pacific Region, Emerging Markets Region, and Global Football Category (soccer). At Pacific Telesis and McKinsey, Roland worked on projects in Silicon Valley with leading high-technology companies. He currently serves as a Board Advisor to Tillamook Creamery (a leading dairy co-operative in the Pacific Northwest) and is involved as an advisor/investor in several technology and brand oriented companies. Roland has a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland and an MBA from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.

 

Ian Hand is the managing director for the VentureLabs multi-institutional technology accelerator partnership, associate director of Simon Fraser University’s Innovation Office and a champion for innovation, entrepreneurship and business incubation in BC.
Director: Ian Hand, B.Sc, M.BA, CPA, CMA, CHRP, ICD.D, Ian is the managing director for the VentureLabs multi-institutional technology accelerator partnership, associate director of Simon Fraser University’s Innovation Office and a champion for innovation, entrepreneurship and business incubation in BC. As a repeat entrepreneur, investor, director and advisor to technology businesses, Ian has worked with technology firms around the world in the advanced materials, communications, digital media, health technologies, and energy sectors. He served as managing partner at two private investment firms with responsibilities for investments, mergers and acquisitions, and divestitures, structuring more than $750 million in equity and debt financings. As an adjunct professor, Ian teaches entrepreneurship, corporate and applied finance and other topics at leading Universities across BC, Canada and internationally. He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC, the Institute of Corporate Directors, the Canadian Association of Business Incubation and the National Business Incubator Association.
Angus has long been a fixture in Canada's professional sports scene. A 13 year CFL veteran, Angus played 200 regular season games for the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League. He was a multiple time all star, 2 time Grey Cup champion and 6 time team captain.
Director of Sales: Angus Reid, B.A, Angus has long been a fixture in Canada's professional sports scene. A 13 year CFL veteran, Angus played 200 regular season games for the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League. He was a multiple time all star, 2 time Grey Cup champion and 6 time team captain. The Richmond product graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2000 where he was an All American centre and went on to be a number one draft pick of the Toronto Argonauts in 2001 CFL draft. Throughout his career Angus was always heavily involved in coaching and promoting amateur sports of all kinds. Since his retirement in 2013 Angus has become an instructor for BC's Safe Contact teaching clinic, ensuring football coaches get the tools they need to coach Safe blocking techniques to their athletes. Angus is a living example of how sports can positively shape a young persons life. Keeping kids active in sports while making sure they stay as safe as possible has become his new passion. Having Angus as the director of sales for Shield-X is the perfect pairing of sports knowledge and athletes safety, making sure our young athletes stay as safe as possible while becoming our champions of tomorrow.
