An impact test rig was developed in collaboration with the Head Injury Prevention (HIP) Lab at
Simon Fraser University (SFU), Surrey, Canada. The test rig have been used to perform helmet oblique impact tests at different speeds and different anvil angles.
A new kinematic-based helmet grading method, the Kinematic Rating System (KRS), was developed based purely on its impact attenuating capability.
KRS also takes into account all the crucial factors of a helmet response such as acceleration and the duration of an impact scenario.
